ABP announced to hold a cultural week at the annual dragon boat event

At the 2015 London Dragon Boat Festival at Royal Albert Dock, ABP Chairman Xu Weiping announced that from next year the company will enhance it by making it part of a week-long cultural showcase.

ABP played an active role in this year’s event, held on 28 June, by entering a team which won a trophy for third place and also sponsored a cup.

This was the 20th anniversary of the London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival staged by London Chinatown Lions Club, with a record 44 teams racing for 4 cups. The ABP sponsored cup was presented to the winner of the Professional category – Wraysbury Dragons by Mr. Xu.

Despite the fierce competition and challenging weather, the ABP Dragon Boat Team secured its 3rd place out of 23 teams in the Open category with a time of 58.89 seconds.

After the racing Mr. Xu Weiping said, “This is a great event to build the team spirit of ABP and spend time with friends and families, with the fabulous line up of music and entertainment showcasing both East and West culture.

“Dragon Boat Festival has thousands of years of history and originated in Ancient China, and nowadays, the festival is celebrated by tens of thousands of people across China every year. The tradition and the culture of Dragon Boat Festival should be showcased to a wider audience in the west.

“Royal Albert Dock is the perfect place, as it is located in one of the most diverse areas in London; it will be the centre of trade between east and west, also the centre of culture and innovation between east and west.

“Therefore I am committed to continue supporting the festival and to extend it into a week-long celebration in the future.”

CEO of ABP London, Nancy said: “ABP is determined to organise more cultural activities at Royal Albert Dock, so everyone will see ABP creates not only a business platform for enterprises, but also an attractive and uplifting environment with a mix of business, leisure and culture.”

Paul Thornhill, President of London Chinatown Lions Club said, “I’m grateful to ABP for the generous support in this annual event by bringing new elements to celebrate the cultural heritage. I share Mr. Xu’s vision about blending the east and west culture.”
