At the official sales launch of the ABP Royal Albert Dock development on 26 June, the company’s chairman, Mr. Xu Weiping announced the project will receive tens of millions of pounds investment from the Indian property group Strawberry Star.
At the event, more than 10 enterprises from the UK and Asia signed confirmation agreements and each paid a £50k reservation fee to secure office space in the first phase of the 4.7 million sq ft development in advance of construction work starting on site later this year. Among the first occupiers are companies operating in the life sciences, high tech and financial sectors.
More than 250 guests including politicians, business leaders and international media witnessed the ceremony and heard the presentation given by representatives from Savills.
Distinguished guests including Newham Mayor Sir Robin Wales, Minister Counsellor of Economic and Commercial Office at the Chinese Embassy, Jin Xu, UK Director of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Pratik Dattani, Director General of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Lin Ning, Director of Strategic Projects and Property at Greater London Authority, Simon Powell, gave their congratulations to the significant progress being made towards the project.
